Genres

Genres typically categorise films.
Some examples are comedy, romantic, horror, thriller, action, sci-fi, etc.
My favourite genres are thriller and comedy (romantic comedy). I enjoy thriller films because they are engaging and are full of tension and suspense which generally makes it enjoyable. I do like watching the typical girly romantic comedy but comedy alone is a favourite as I like the humour and they are entertaining.
Genres are important as the categorise films. They are there to tell people what to expect in a film. Without them, you would typically be comparing a horror to a romantic comedy.

Favourite director?

One of my favourite film directors is Stephen Spielberg. He is one of the most successful and most popular film directors in film history. My favourite film which he has directed is ET which was shown in 1982. This film was produced 17 years before I was born yet up until today it is still well known. Its gripping, intelligent story with its symbolism just makes it one of the best films ever made.
Some of his other best known films are Jaws, Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones, Saving Private Ryan and Schindlers List. He received the 'Academy Award for Best Director' for Schindlers List (1993).
Stephen Spielberg is currently 68  years old and he was born on 18th December 1946. Spielberg began directing from 1963.In 1963 when  he was only 16 years old, he wrote and directed his first independent film, being 140 minutes long, called Firelight which was a science-fiction. He attended Arcadia High School in Phoenix for three years. He later graduated  at Saratoga High School (California) in 1965. His long-term goal was to become a film director, and he succeeded.
